I am on page 195 and just wanted you to know that I am enjoying every minute of your book. Can't wait to finish. Jackie Alexander

I loved reading the book. I don't know when I last read a book and could not stop until I finished reading it. It was awesome and so real. I started reading it on Friday afternoon before catching a flight. I read it on the plane and finished reading it after I unpacked at 3 a.m. I was hooked and appreciated the sense of family woven throughout the book. You describe things and make them so real. Thank you for writing the book, never mind it took ten years, it was worth it. I guess you need to start writing the sequel, I would hope Anthony and Nikki got married; also Sam and Shelly, see I am ready to continue. Thanks again, it was a good read for the summer. I was reading “How I Got By” just this morning. It is very powerful and stirring, I have to remember that it is fiction. I keep wanting to make it real. It was a pleasure to meet you, thank you for sharing your work with us. Shirley J. Bailey

I found your first offering very well written. I especially appreciated the historical references about the Underground Railroad. Karen Franklin

“How I Got By,” is reminiscent of Amy Tan’s “The Joy Luck Club.”... Distinctly African American – more in the vein of “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” by Zora Neale Hurston…Each story is richly detailed; ... Livingston’s is a good first novel. ...She leaves us with a story that is nostalgic, poignant and nearly impossible to put down. Audry Bartholomew, Editor, Suburban Lifestyles

A remarkable novel about faith and family. The intricate details of her studies are prominently displayed throughout the novel and add credence in establishing the characters as believable and their circumstances as real life scenarios. Carey Yazeed, Reviewer, Midwest Book Review
